Things to know
In our usual packages, we have groups of four people with one guide. Two or three of these groups share a helicopter. In our special private packages, it’s still four people with one guide, but they get their own helicopter.
In our packages, we guarantee a certain vertical feet amount, averaging about 15,000 VF daily, equating to roughly 7-8 runs. However, more runs are possible depending on conditions, with our record being 19 in a day. Packages include a set VF amount, so daily skiing might vary (e.g., 20,000 VF one day, 8,000 VF another), depending on weather and snow conditions. We aim to use all the VF in the package, and extra VF can be purchased if desired.
Heliskiing isn’t just for experts. In the Troll Peninsula, we cater to a wide skill range, offering terrains for all levels. Whether you’re into gentle, flatter slopes or seek more adventurous terrain, we have options for every preference.
The snow in North Iceland is known for its quality, often dry and deep, making it ideal for both skiing and snowboarding. Expect diverse snow conditions during our season. You might experience skiing or snowboarding on fresh powder, Iceland’s renowned spring corn snow, or the soft and airy backcountry snow.
Traveling to Iceland and reaching us is straightforward and quick. Regular international flights to Keflavik Airport connect you from Europe in 3-4 hours and North America in 5-7 hours.
From Keflavik, you can choose our private shuttle, a taxi, or a bus to Reykjavik, about a 40-minute drive. From Reykjavik’s domestic airport, a short 35-minute flight with Air Iceland takes you to Akureyri Airport. Reykjavik and Akureyri have five daily flights, and you can find more details on Icelandair’s website.
Our team welcomes you at Akureyri, offering a scenic drive to Sigló Hotel or an optional helicopter transfer for a quick, breathtaking preview of your heliskiing experience. Alternatively, you can opt for a 5-hour self-drive from Keflavik to Siglufjörður.
Our fleet features the latest, well-maintained helicopters, including the Ecureuil Astar and AS-350B2 and B3 models.
The avalanche danger in mountainous terrain can’t be entirely eliminated, but it’s managed by respecting nature and adapting to its conditions. We select guides who are professionally trained in snowpack analysis to make informed decisions, always prioritizing guest safety as their top priority.
We partner with BCA – Backcountry Access to equip our guests with top-notch avalanche safety gear. This includes a transceiver, shovel, probe, and an avalanche airbag, ensuring the highest safety standards.
Minors under 18 are welcome to join. However, parents/guardians should judge if the minor is prepared and skilled for heliskiing. Participants under 18 need a signed confirmation from a parent or guardian, agreeing to our Terms & Conditions.
Guests are welcome to bring their own gear, but we also provide a wide range of K2 skis and snowboards. Ski/snowboard equipment and avalanche gear are included in every package. We only ask guests to bring their own ski/snowboard boots and helmets.
The prime period for Northern Lights viewing is from early March to mid-April.
If skiing isn’t possible due to weather, we have lots of other fun options. You can go whale watching, try sea fishing, ride Icelandic horses, or relax in hot springs. In the town of Siglufjörður, you can visit the Herring Museum and take a tour of the Segull 67 brewery.
We measure vertical feet skied to provide a clear, guaranteed skiing amount. Guides’ decisions, influenced by safety, weather, and snow conditions, might lead to more flight time but won’t reduce your skiing. Vertical feet are simple to understand and, with today’s tech, easy for guests to measure and track.
